Sometimes paintings come to us from the oddest of places. In this case, it wasn’t just where the idea came from, but how it came to me: a good friend and collector posted a stunning snowscape from a recent storm in his hometown, and posted it to Facebook.

I was stunned by how striking the photo was: the snow glowed this vibrant purple, which was offset by the gold winter grass, and all the trees were obscured in haze.
